While they didn’t necessarily invent casual weekend wear, J. Crew has certainly solidified itself as the unofficial outfitter of gin and tonic drinkers everywhere.
This fall, they’re taking things a step beyond seersucker and wide whale corduroys with J. Crew Collection, a luxury line comprised of cashmere coats, silk gowns, calf-hair moccasins, and hand painted jewelry.
The price points are decidedly more designer (the range includes a $1,950 gown), but so is the quality. The company has paired with artisans who specialize in hand-beading, cashmere, leather, and printmaking, and will offer each design in a limited production to guarantee relative exclusivity.
J. Crew Collection will be available through an online mini-boutique this fall, and eventually will be housed in stand-alone Collection boutiques—the first one will open on Madison Avenue in Manhattan next spring.
